I have the problem for some time that the Safari when the first time a website is called up takes quite a long time until the page is displayed. I’ve tried everything:

  • Delete the cache
  • Remove extensions

…and and and.

Then I found in an article, where also this problem was discussed, a reference to the DNS Prefetching of Safari. In Mac the DNS prefetching needs to be disabled using “Terminal” application as explained below:

Disable DNS Prefetching in Safari:

defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false

Enable DNS Prefetching in Safari:

defaults delete com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled

And what can I to say? It was the turbo switch for my safari. The web pages were loaded again fast and displayed in lightning speed. A disadvantage, with regard to the loading time of clicked links I could not determine personally.

Thanks internet for this sensational tip!
